Easy Homemade Pickles

Spring is here, but will it ever stop raining? I mean seriously… we see blue sky and then everything changes again. Good news… the drought is over, right? 😀

As the days start to get warmer and the sun begins to shine, we are all going to start thinking about tending our gardens. Flower gardens or vegetable gardens, that’s all a part of the summertime. Let’s say you plant vegetables and if you’re like me… you don’t plant just one cucumber plant. Instead you plant a couple. Soon you’ll have more cucumbers than you’ll know what to do with.

Then it’s time to make some pickles!

Homemade pickles are easy to make!

Come back here and grab this recipe for homemade pickles! They are simple, delicious, sweet and crunchy. Super easy too and they take no time at all.

Homemade Refrigerator Pickles
Slice the pickles thinly and pack them into a small jar.

 

 

 

If you like crunchy pickles slice the cucumbers a little wider say 1/4 inch.  You can keep the peel on or remove it – either way will work, it’s really your preference.  Me, I like the texture of the peel after it’s pickled.  I leave it on.

Homemade Pickles – Crunchy, sweet, easy and the perfect topping for a burger or a snack, this little pickle reminds me of summertimes at the lake!

Ingredients

  • 1 cups cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon celery salt optional
  • 2-3 cucumbers

Instructions

  1. In a medium pan over medium heat combine the vinegar, water, salt & sugar until the sugar & salt are completely dissolved. Remove from heat & stir in the celery salt (if using). Set aside & cool completely.
  2. Slice the cucumbers in 1/4 inch slices & add them to a large plastic bowl or glass jar. Pour over marinade & cover tightly. Place in refrigerator & marinade them for one week before using.
